I voted in support of passing Joint Resolution 3 to revoke Evers' Emergency Order. I must note I still highly encourage everyone to wear a mask in public establishments as well as following CDC COVID-19 guidelines. This vote is not all about the masks. I
SJR3 is about following the Constitution. The Governor's executive orders have been an overreach. After declaring a public emergency, he must seek legislative approval if it lasts longer than 60 days. This repeal would not affect mask mandates imposed by local governments or individual businesses.
I also would like you to know, my colleagues and I sent a letter to Governor Evers asking him to sit down and work with us in a bipartisan effort to draft rules and bring them through the Assembly Rules Committee.
Again, I would like to reiterate that if you feel ill stay home and quarantine, practice social distancing, and wear a mask when necessary.
The Governor's Budget
Governor Evers will deliver a virtual budget address to the Wisconsin State Legislature on February 16th.
It is important our budget funds Wisconsinites' priorities while also keeping excessive spending in check. We need to spend responsibly, just like Wisconsin businesses and families do every day!
