Psychology Bill

Yesterday, my bill AB 63, was brought to the Assembly Health Committee for a public hearing. Today, I am pleased to share AB 63 passed out of committee with unanimous support.

For those who may not know, under current law, no person may engage in the practice of psychology without being licensed as a psychologist by the Psychology Examining Board. This bill makes
various revisions to the laws governing the examining board and the practice of psychology.

The Senate Committee on Insurance, Licensing, and Forestry, also held a hearing yesterday over Sen. Stafsholt's, Senate companion bill, SB 77.

Rep. Tittl explains the importance of Ab 63/SB 77 in the Senate Hearing.

About the Bill:

I want to emphasize this bill would increase the number of psychologists in the workforce, such as recent graduates' ability to help, as we do not have enough psychologists. This bill is being brought forward at a significant time as many Wisconsinites, and their families will benefit.

The Center for Disease Control has reported that "half of all Americans say their mental health has been negatively affected by the events of the past year. That is the highest percentage since World War II." SB 77 responds to this situation by making it easier for psychologists who have received their PhDs to transition to the workplace.
