Apologies for the belated arrival of my E-Update. The Legislative Technology Service Bureau continues to work hard to fix our e-update system, which took several days to resolve the issue. I appreciate your patience.
Last Week in the Assembly
Committee on Sporting Heritage
This week in committee, we held a public hearing over AB 29 relating to the governor's bear tag and AB 30 relating to bear bait. I was able to testify before Chairman Pronchinske and my fellow committee members on Assembly Bill 30, relating to the use of wood to contain bear bait or feed in logs or stumps.
Rep. Tittl testifies before the Sporting Heritage Committee alongside, Sen. Stafsholt.
Wolf Hunt Season has Arrived!
The application period opens at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday through gowild.wi.gov. The DNR will announce drawing results on Feb. 22. Winners can begin hunting and trapping once they purchase a license. The season ends on Feb. 28.
The DNR will then begin accepting license applications for the November season on March 1.
Last Wednesday, we had our first Corrections hearing of the session which we received much information and were able to talk with Administrators and other staff from the Department of Corrections. I had a chance to have a great conversation with Secretary Karr about mental health and prisoners. I look forward to meeting with him soon to discuss mental health in more depth.
The Governor's Budget
Governor Evers will deliver a virtual budget address to the Wisconsin State Legislature this evening, February 16th.
It is important our budget funds Wisconsinites' priorities while also keeping excessive spending in check. We need to spend responsibly, just like Wisconsin businesses and families do every day!
