Welcome to the first edition of the 23rd Assembly District newsletter!

Our regular newsletter is just one way we will share news from Madison and ask for your thoughts on important issues facing our state. Please share this with your friends and neighbors, and click here to subscribe. We welcome your comments and questions and thank you for the privilege of representing you in the State Assembly.

With Gratitude,

It's Budget Season!

Every two years the Governor is required to prepare a biennial budget that must be approved by the legislature. In February Governor Evers submitted his proposed budget and now the public gets an opportunity to have a say in the process. Here are just a few ways you can make your voice heard:

Badger Bounce Back Listening Sessions

Governor Evers is holding a series of live Badger Bounce Back Budget listening sessions. You can participate or watch on the Governor’s YouTube channel. The remaining listening session is on Climate Change and the Environment and will be held on April 21st at 6:00 pm. More information and registration instructions are available here.

Joint Finance Committee Hearings

As in years past, the Joint Finance Committee will hold in-person budget hearings around the state. This year the committee will also offer a virtual hearing on April 28th, from 10am to 5 pm. More information, registration, and links to submit written testimony at both in-person and virtual hearings can be found here: https://legis.wisconsin.gov/topics/budgetcomments You can also contact individual members of the committee -- a list of Joint Finance Committee members can be found here.

Office Hours

One of the most important parts of being a state representative is hearing directly from constituents, so we are pleased to offer both Zoom and in-person office hours. We will hold in-person sessions at businesses in varying locations around the 23rd district, and our first will be in Fox Point at the Friendship Cafe on Friday, April 23rd. You can sign up for either a Zoom or in-person meeting here. As always, if these don’t fit your schedule please reach out to our office and we would be happy to make other arrangements.

In the District: Thiensville Riverkeeper Cleanup

I strongly support measures to protect our natural areas, and I will advocate for strong environmental protection through my work as a state representative. However, the best place to make a difference for our planet is right in our own backyard! In the spirit of Earth Day I will be a site captain for the Riverkeeper Spring Cleanup at Thiensville Village Park on Saturday, April 24th from 9-12. What better way to meet your state representative than picking up trash and getting our parks ready for Spring! Hope to see you there.

Legislative Update

I have the honor of serving on the Energy and Utilities, Forestry Parks and Recreation, Workforce Development and Small Business Development committees. You can find the bills I have supported, the votes I have taken, and any committee activity on our web page at this link. I also post regularly on social media to keep constituents up to date, so please follow our office on Facebook or Twitter for the latest news from our State Capitol.

Vaccinations

It’s a great feeling to be vaccinated against COVID-19! I received my second dose of the Pfizer vaccine on April 9th. Please get yours as soon as you can and reach out to those who might need help finding theirs.
