With unemployment at an all-time low in Wisconsin and the stock market at an all-time high, there is plenty to be thankful for this Christmas season. Lack of employment opportunities has always been a concern for all Wisconsinites. Parents, students, and those entering the job market benefit greatly from a robust job’s economy. Employment is an important first step to the American Dream.
The stock market rising (10,000 points since Trump’s election in 2016) certainly is welcomed by retirees on a pension and those counting on their 401k’s to supplement their retirement savings. Investment provides more jobs, and more jobs create more investment opportunities. The stock market is owned by Americans from all walks of life; Union workers, skilled trades, mid-level managers, as well as white collar workers all have a vested interest in the stock market doing well.
Wisconsin is in excellent shape going forward. Here are 10 reasons to celebrate:
1. Stock market is at an all-time high. 2. Unemployment is at an all-time low. 3. Wages are rising at a faster rate than inflation, with working class wages rising the fastest. 4. Wisconsin has a fully funded state pension fund. 5. Wisconsin has a projected budget surplus of just under one billion dollars for the current biennium. 6. The “Miller Park” stadium tax has ended. 7. The Fiserv Forum has put Fiserv Inc. and Milwaukee in the business spotlight as a premiere venue. 8. FoxConn is rolling along. They have already poured more concrete than the Empire State Building. 9. Since 2011, Wisconsin taxpayers have saved $13 billion. 10. Wisconsin GDP growth in 2018 is the highest since 2010.
All in all, 2019 was a great year for Wisconsin, as well as for America. Not only is America’s economy adding hundreds of thousands of jobs, but many are family-supporting, manufacturing jobs. Great news for America so be sure to ask Santa for more of the same in 2020.
Merry Christmas!
