State Representative
Janel Brandtjen:
Wisconsin Reforms Doing Better Than Reported:
I have always been a
firm believer that given the right leadership and a
constituency that values hard work, self reliance and
freedom, Wisconsin was poised to become a model for the
entire country. The Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance
discovered that due to some errors in calculating tax
rank, Wisconsin is doing better than the Census
Bureau had previously reported.

Government
Accountability Bill Passes:
I have been a very vocal critic of the
Government Accountability Board (GAB) for some time now.
The divisive nature of the board is clear in the
rhetoric and the support (or opposition) from both sides
of the aisle. Every Republican I know fully believes
that the GAB is partisan, biased and at best completely
unfair to them. Conversely every Democrat I've had
contact with calls the GAB the best non-partisan
solution the State of Wisconsin could hope for.
That in itself is reason to change the way Wisconsin
handles its elections. A fair and impartial board
would have supporters and detractors on both sides of
the aisle. If Kevin Kennedy was trying to run an
organization that was viewed as unbiased, fair and
impartial, he failed miserably. I preferred the
original assembly version of the bill (Click
here) but even with the Senate changes (
we will have better system in place for fair Wisconsin
elections going forward.
Syrian Refugees:
On Monday of this week I signed a letter
written by Speaker Vos calling for a cessation of Syrian
refugees into Wisconsin. It is our duty as government
officials to make sure that every step is taken to keep
our citizens safe. In light of the Paris bombings and
other terror attempts around the globe associated with
the Syrian refugee situation it is clear that further
vetting and precautions are needed. See the
Speaker's letter. Also on Tuesday,
Governor Walker issued
this statement.
God Bless Wisconsin!
