State Representative
Janel Brandtjen:
Human
Trafficking Bill AB 489:
It is no secret that
Wisconsin and the Milwaukee area has become a hotspot
for child prostitution or as it is more appropriately called "human
trafficking". The publication "The Guardian" has
declared Milwaukee the "Harvard
of pimping school". The FBI recognizes Wisconsin as
a hub for human trafficking. One of things that helps to
make Wisconsin attractive to human traffickers is that
the laws requiring healthcare providers to report the
abuse of children are unclear at best. I have introduced
a bill that would close any loopholes. We are
hoping for a public hearing on the bill in early
December.
See the bill here.
Sanctuary City Bill AB 492:
Regardless of which package of
immigration reforms we adopt in the United States, the
one central theme that must prevail is we are a country
based on the rule of law. Those laws are put in
place by elected officials and serve a number of
purposes including property rights and of course, public
safety. No city, town or county has the right to ignore
federal immigration law in order to provide sanctuary
for illegal aliens. State Representive Dave Murphy and
myself have authored a bill that would allow a resident
of Wisconsin to sue any political subdivision that does
not follow federal immigration law.
See the bill here.
CORRECTION: In last week's Update I stated that
Wisconsin charges $60 per year to register a vehicle.
It is $75 per year and not $60. I apologize for any
inconvenience.
God Bless Wisconsin!
