State Representative Janel Brandtjen
The Arena Numbers Add up to a Win for
Wisconsin:
By now everyone in Wisconsin has
heard all the reasons to build or not build an arena in
downtown Milwaukee. Should we keep the Bucks or
let them go to Seattle? In the end there was only
one real question to be answered, "Is the state of
Wisconsin better off keeping the Milwaukee Bucks in
Wisconsin, even if the state was to commit $3.5 million a year
for 20 years to help build a new sports complex?".
Keeping the concept simple, the player's salaries bring
in $6.5 million per year in revenue while the state's
portion of the financing is locked in at $3.5 million
for 20 years, thus the player's salaries alone will net $3
million a year. The taxpayers of Wisconsin are also
responsible for between $70 and $120 million worth of
maintenance costs for the Bradley Center. The new
agreement absolves the taxpayers of that obligation and
gets us out of the arena business.
Here are some other numbers to
consider.
1. The average attendance of a
Buck's game is 15,000. With 41 home games that
adds up to 615,000 fans per year.
2. The average price of a ticket is
$50. 615,000 multiplied by 50 is over $30 million
a year on tickets alone. 615,00 fans is a lot of people
paying for parking, taking cabs, buying brats and beer
and shopping for souvenirs. The sales tax on the ticket
sales alone each year is over $1.5 million.
3. The Bucks employ many more
people than 15 basketball players. There are many
top
level professionals on the
Milwaukee Buck's payroll.
The Bucks employ well over 100 people and that is not
including the vendors, game day ushers and maintenance
staff.
Planned Parenthood Exposed:
In a another
disturbing video
that was
released this week by The Center for Medical Progress,
Planned Parenthood clearly is selling children's body
parts and the doctor is filmed discussing how not to get
caught. To make matters even more alarming the
California Superior Court has put a temporary
restraining order prohibiting the group from
releasing the remaining videos. Planned Parenthood is in
trouble and their defenders know it.
God Bless Wisconsin!
