Free COVID-19 testing will be available to south shore residents from June 4-6. I encourage anyone who wants to take advantage of this opportunity to do so. Thank you to the local health departments for organizing this, and for working tirelessly throughout the pandemic!

Need help with unemployment?

DWD Landing Page.png

With over 600,000 unpaid unemployment claims, my colleagues and I are all receiving a steady stream of phone calls pleading for help contacting the Department of Workforce Development (DWD). My legislative office has been helping constituents who reach out to our office regarding their unemployment insurance or Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA). We have closed out dozens of cases, and we will continue to work on all remaining and new cases until every single one is resolved.

If you are struggling to get through to DWD and have not done so already, email my office at Rep.Rodriguez@legis.wi.gov with the following details, which we need in order to submit the case to DWD:

1. Full name of claimant (Last name, First Name, Middle Initial)
2. Phone number
3. Date of Birth
4. Date of initial UI Application
5. Status of application (trying to file initial claim, pending, in appeal, etc.)
6. Reason for inquiry (can't get through by phone, unanswered questions, etc.)

Legislators are unable to expedite individual cases, but we can reach out to DWD and ask them to contact the constituent directly to resolve any problems with their claim(s). My staff and I look forward to hearing from you and having the opportunity to assist.

Free Fishing Weekend

This weekend is a Wisconsin “Free Fishing Weekend!” All waters of the state will be open for free fishing on June 6 and 7. But, there is one catch – all normal rules about bag limits, size limits, etc. will still be in effect. More information can be found on the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) website here.

NOTICE TO SUBSCRIBERS:

Under Wisconsin’s campaign laws, legislative offices that are up for re-election are normally prohibited from sending mass communications from the office after April 15 of that year. Given the state of emergency, this rule has been exempted for communications related to the COVID-19 public health emergency during the state of emergency and for 30 days after the expiration of the declared public health emergency. This exemption will expire on June 10. That said, I will no longer be able to send you e-updates between June 10 and the fall election.

As always my staff and I will still be responsive to any and all concerns related to state government. If you have questions, concerns or issues that require attention from my office, we are ready and willing to continue assisting you. I look forward to your continued communication with my office.

You can also follow me on Twitter and like my Facebook page to see updates in the coming months.
