COVID-19 Testing at Home

I’m excited to share that this week the State of Wisconsin announced a new COVID-19 testing option that allows Wisconsinites to test from the comfort of their own homes. This opportunity is being provided in partnership with Vault Medical Services. The service is available to any Wisconsinite who believes they need a test, regardless of symptoms, at no cost to the individual.

People utilizing this option can request an at-home collection kit online at https://learn.vaulthealth.com/Wisconsin/, and once the kit arrives will collect their sample at home under the supervision of a health care profession via Zoom call and send the sample back using a UPS drop-off location.

This was one of the many ideas legislative leaders included in our list of provisions we would like to see in the next COVID-19 response bill. It’s great to see that this concept is being made a priority and already being implemented by the Department of Health Services (DHS).

At-home testing will help make getting a COVID-19 test more accessible to various populations that may have had difficulties or reservations about getting a test in the past.
