Wisconsin Among Best in Reducing Tax Burden

Wisconsin's tax burden has dropped more than any other state over the past two decades, according to the Wisconsin Policy Forum. Thanks to Republican reforms, Wisconsin is headed in the right direction.

"Over the past 20 years, almost no state has seen a greater drop in its tax burden than Wisconsin, which also saw its ranking among states fall from fourth to the middle of the pack. Depending on how it is measured, the drop in Wisconsin’s state and local taxes as a share of personal income was the largest or nearly the largest nationally since 1999.” Wisconsin Policy Forum

This past budget cycle, Governor Evers proposed over $1 billion in tax increases in his Budget Address. With revenues even higher than expected, we found this unnecessary. Instead, Republicans proposed an historic $3.4 billion tax cut. In the end, Gov. Evers signed our budget with minimal changes, which means even more income tax and property tax relief is to come.

Good luck, hunters!

Good luck to all the hunters as Wisconsin’s 9-day gun deer hunting season starts this weekend! The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has compiled information you should know for before, during, and after your hunt, which you can find here. Also, don’t forget you can save time by buying your hunting license and registering your harvest online at https://gowild.wi.gov/.

Have a safe and successful hunt!

Visiting with Carollton Elementary 4th Graders

On Monday I was invited to give a presentation to the 4th Graders at Carollton Elementary in Oak Creek. We talked about the makeup of state government, how a bill becomes a law, and the ins and outs of my job as a state legislator. To wrap up, the students even had the opportunity to amend and pass a mock bill!

This is a service I love to provide and offer to any 4th grade class in my Assembly District. With that said, if you know a 4th grade teacher in our community who might be interested in having me visit, please encourage them to reach out to my office by emailing me at Rep.Rodriguez@legis.wisconsin.gov.
