The State of our State is Improving

The state of our state is improving. Despite a difficult ten months brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, Wisconsinites have come together and persevered.

Unfortunately, the Governor’s State of the State address left something to be desired in getting this message across. He continued to shift blame with respect to his Department of Workforce Development’s failings in administering unemployment insurance benefits, and did not address the chorus of Wisconsinites seeking information about the planning and distribution of the coronavirus vaccine. Many of you have been calling and emailing me asking when it will be your turn to receive the vaccine. Many of my constituents who have been reaching out are elderly or otherwise members of vulnerable populations who are eager to receive the first dose of the vaccine as soon as they are authorized to do so.

I am hopeful that in the coming weeks we can all work together to accomplish our shared priorities. We all want what is best for our state and our constituents, and I look forward to supporting policies that serve the members of our community in the legislative session ahead. I am optimistic we can continue find ways to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, and work on crafting a responsible budget that will work for Wisconsin.

Weekly Newsletter on COVID-19 Response and Vaccine Progress

Many of you have contacted my office in recent weeks with lingering questions regarding Wisconsin’s SARS-CoV-2 vaccine distribution plan. I am excited to share that yesterday the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) announced the rollout of a weekly e-newsletter regarding the state’s COVID-19 response and vaccine rollout. The newsletter will be sent out every Friday. Interested Wisconsinites must sign-up to receive the e-newsletter, and may do so here.

Unfortunately up until this point, the vaccine distribution plan has been unclear to members of the Legislature, members of the public, and healthcare providers alike. Right now we seem to have more questions than answers. I hope this newsletter serves as a great tool in getting the public informed!

Meet my Team!

With the start of a new legislative session, I’d like to introduce you to my staff. On the left is Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn has been with my office for two years, so you may have interacted with her before. On the right is Mitch, who is new to my office. Both Kaitlyn and Mitch will be assisting me with constituent relations, legislative priorities and my role on the Joint Finance Committee. We are excited to serve you this session!
