Ways and Means Committee Approve Middle Class Tax Cut
SocialMedia_MiddleTaxGraphic2.jpg

This week, the Assembly Committee on Ways and Means approved legislation that will provide a 10 percent tax cut for middle class families in Wisconsin. The proposal uses a portion of a massive surplus Republicans created last session through government reforms and responsible budgeting.

I am proud to cosponsor this legislation that provides tax relief for hundreds of thousands of hard working families in Wisconsin.

Unfortunately, Gov. Evers has expressed opposition to this proposal preferring instead to raise taxes on small businesses and manufacturers to pay for the tax cut. With a $2.4 billion budget surplus created by Republicans there is no reason to raise taxes on families in Wisconsin. The governor’s plan would raise taxes by $518 million on small businesses and manufacturers.

The Assembly will be on the floor next week to vote on the measure. I hope Gov. Evers keeps his campaign promise to voters by signing this legislation into law.

Frigid Temperatures Return: Be Prepared

With more frigid air sweeping across the state, now is a great time to be sure you’re prepared for inclement weather.

Ready Wisconsin offers guidance to make sure you’re ready for unexpected weather. For example, during the winter months always make sure to keep a spare blanket, hat and gloves in the car in case you are unexpectedly stranded. Also, be sure to have a sufficient heat source at home in case of isolation forced by cold or snow.
