State Revenues $319M Higher Than Expected

Last week, the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau released new data showing that state revenues are $319 million higher than expected. This is 1.7% above the estimated amount.

This information about state tax collections shows that sending money back to the taxpayers is the right thing to do – the tax cuts we made in the budget passed in June were the right thing to do. Republicans have made responsible reforms over the past several years, allowing us to make strategic investments and hold the line on taxes in recent budgets.

Suicide Awareness Week

This week is National Suicide Awareness Week, and today is World Suicide Prevention Day. In 2020, 861 Wisconsin residents died by suicide. Everyone can take action to prevent suicide. If you or someone you care about needs help, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1 (800) 273-TALK, or contact the Wisconsin Hopeline by texting “HOPELINE” to 741741.

Wisconsin Blue Book Coming Soon

The new 2021-2022 Wisconsin Blue Book will become available in the coming weeks. The Blue Book is published biennially by the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau and features a variety of information about our state government and history.

Many of you requested the Blue Book when you completed my Spring Survey, but if you haven’t already and are interested in a copy, please contact my office by simply replying to this E-Update.

Remember 9/11

Tomorrow is the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Please join me in taking some time to remember the lives of the victims and honor the heroes who responded on September 11, 2001.
