Joint Finance to Begin Voting on the Budget

On Monday, I held in-district office hours in South Milwaukee and Oak Creek to hear public comments on the state budget. I want to thank all those who visited to share their thoughts on the budget and other issues that impact our district.

From my conversations with constituents over the last several months, we all agree: we need good roads, strong schools and access to healthcare. We will continue to work towards those goals in the coming months.

Within the next couple weeks, the Joint Finance Committee will begin its work voting on the budget. The process typically takes a couple months or longer before the final budget is complete. Once the final budget is passed by the committee both the Assembly and Senate must approve it before it goes to the governor. The governor has the ability to partially veto the budget, veto the entire budget or sign it into law.

If you didn’t get a chance to share thoughts on the budget at my last in-district office hours, feel free to contact my office.
