Joint Committee on Finance Plans to Hit the Road!

On Wednesday I participated in a press conference with my colleagues on the Joint Committee on Finance (JFC) to announce public hearings coming up for the committee. Each session JFC travels the state to hear public input on the sitting governor’s biennial budget proposal. You may recall that Gov. Evers introduced his budget bill during a Budget Address on February 16, 2021. If you would like to read Gov. Evers’ budget bill, it has been introduced as 2021 Senate Bill 111, which you can find on the legislative website here.

The details for the public hearings are as follows:

Friday, April 9 from 10am-5pm – Whitewater

University of Wisconsin – Whitewater (800 Main St, Whitewater, WI 53190)

Wednesday, April 21 from 10am-5pm – Rhinelander

The Hodag Dome (665 Coolidge Ave, Rhinelander, WI 54501)

Thursday, April 22 from 10am-5pm – Menomonie

University of Wisconsin – Stout (712 S Broadway St, Menomonie, WI 54751)

Wednesday, April 28 – Virtual

You may remember that last session we were fortunate to have one of these public hearings right here in our district at the Oak Creek Community Center. This session a few other communities are getting their turn, but that doesn’t mean that your voice can’t be heard! I welcome those who are able to travel to Whitewater, which is just about an hour away, to drop in on the in-person public hearing. Or, if you would like to participate in the Virtual Public Hearing, details are still in the works and will be shared via the new JFC website at

www.legis.wisconsin.gov/topics/budgetcomments. All of these public hearings will be livestreamed at https://wiseye.org/live/ for those of you who would just like to observe.

Lastly, citizens can provide written input using the JFC website, or by emailing

 budget.comments@legis.wisconsin.gov.

I will also be holding virtual and in-person Town Halls next month, and will be able to share more about that in the coming weeks.

International Women’s Day

Monday, March 8 was International Women’s Day. I’m thankful for the trailblazing women who came before me to gain women’s suffrage and pave the way for women like me to run for elected office. Each day I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve you alongside other incredible and strong women in the Wisconsin Legislature!

Remember to ‘Spring Forward!’

Don’t forget that Daylight Savings Time starts on Sunday!
