Foxconn Chooses Wisconsin for Billion Dollar Investment

On Thursday evening, before a packed crowd at the Milwaukee Art Museum, Wisconsin received great news; Foxconn Technology Group has chosen southeastern Wisconsin to build a state-of-the-art technology campus, the first of its kind in North America. The new campus, a $10 billion investment by Foxconn, will focus primarily on building liquid crystal displays and is expected to create up to 13,000 jobs with an average wage of $53,875. The new plant is expected to have a ripple affect across the region with thousands of additional jobs created by suppliers and ancillary companies. It will be the largest corporate project in US history in terms of jobs.

Over the past several years we have made great strides in our efforts to make it easier for businesses to create jobs in Wisconsin. Our reforms are working and more businesses are realizing the benefit of investing in Wisconsin and our workforce. This is an exciting opportunity for our region.

In the coming months the legislature will convene to pass legislation that will allow Foxconn to begin construction. The deal will include claw back provisions to ensure that our taxpayers are protected if the company does not meet the parameters of the deal.

This opportunity will allow Wisconsin to be involved in transforming the manufacturing industry. We have a strong manufacturing heritage, a dedicated workforce and unmatched work ethic. We are ready to show the world why Wisconsin is not only a leader in this industry but also a great place for businesses. Welcome to Wisconsin Foxconn!

Have a great weekend!
