Throughout the legislative session, hundreds of
students, citizens, and people from Wisconsin and different parts of the
country visit our state Capitol for a variety of reasons. Some visit to see
our magnificent Capitol building and others to meet with their state legislators.
The first two months of the current legislative session have been no
different than past with hundreds of citizens and groups congregating in
Madison to share their thoughts and concerns on a variety of issues.
This week ABATE Wisconsin made
their annual trek to the capitol bringing along constituents from every
Assembly district throughout the state to meet with their respective
representative to discuss issues important to bikers. ABATE is a motorcycle
rights organization that advocates for safety, bikers rights and “freedom of
the road.”
This year, constituent Mike Mlinar stopped in. Mike has been an ABATE member
for 40 years and this was his first time attending the issue-advocacy day.
It was a pleasure to meet Mike and the other members of ABATE. We had a
positive discussion regarding several proposals that will come before the
legislature this session. Several proposals focus on making Wisconsin
roadways safer for everyone traveling our roads.
Meeting with constituents is one of my favorite parts of my job. Even if
you’re not part of a group, please feel welcome to stop by my office and say
hello to me and my staff. We always welcome visitors!
Have a great week!
