At the beginning of the year, my office sent out a survey to get an idea of what you were most interested in seeing the State Legislature accomplish this session.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to mail in your completed surveys or complete the online survey. I read and responded to every survey submitted. My office received more responses this year than ever before. This update provides a breakdown of the survey results!
As always, I welcome any feedback or ideas you may have. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you.
Evan Goyke State Representative 18th Assembly District
2021 Spring Survey
I hope you find the survey response data as interesting as I do. Thank you again to all who filled out and sent back surveys. I enjoyed reading your responses and writing back to you!
Criminal Justice Reform
The following bar graph represents your responses to the first question on the survey: what criminal justice reforms should we prioritize in the coming year? The majority of people checked the option relating to rehabilitative and preventative programs. However, the options relating to individuals with mental illness and low-level offenders were also a popular and common answer as can be seen in the graphic below.
Transportation
The next graphic represents your responses to the second question: what transportation investments should we prioritize? Improving and expanding bus lines was the most common answer with rebuilding our roads and highways coming in at a close second. Take a look at the bar graph below to see how you and other constituents feel about transportation.
BadgerCare Expansion and Local Sales Tax
The next two charts represent your answers to the following yes or no questions that were on the survey. Would you support expanding Medicaid (called BadgerCare in Wisconsin), to expand access and eligibility while drawing in new federal investments, and would you support increasing the sales tax by 1% in Milwaukee to support local government and reduce property taxes? Both received wide support.
The Future of Our State
Finally, the graphic below is representative of your responses to the last question: is Wisconsin on the right or wrong track? As you can see, most of you answered that Wisconsin is on the wrong track. Hopefully, I can work to change that, and get Wisconsin back to a place where you all believe that we are on the right track.
