Rep. Drake Reacts to Governor Evers’ State of the State Address

Despite historic challenges, Gov. Evers has shown steadfast leadership in doing what’s right for Wisconsin

MADISON - Today, Governor Tony Evers delivered his fourth State of the State Address in the Wisconsin State Capitol. Governor Evers highlighted signing one of the largest tax cuts in state history, the largest rainy day fund allotment, lowest unemployment rate and number of people unemployed in state history, and large investments in workforce training as major milestones for 2021. Additionally, he announced key investments in Wisconsin’s veterans and military personnel, rural healthcare and access to care, and student mental health.

Representative Drake (D-11) released the following statement:

Because of Governor Evers’ steadfast leadership, Wisconsin has the lowest unemployment rate and number of people unemployed in state history, the largest budget surplus in state history, and the biggest tax cut in recent history.

I also applaud Governor Tony Evers on his crucial investments in those in our state who need it most — Wisconsin would not be ranked second in the Midwest for getting federal aid allocated without his steadfast leadership. His investments in military personnel and veterans services, student mental health, and his special session call show that he is putting the needs of Wisconsinites first. I believe Wisconsin families should continue to be prioritized and Governor Evers seeks to target relief for families by addressing childcare and caregiver costs.

I congratulate Governor Evers on his address and look forward to his continued leadership moving forward.
