Meet Dora
Dora Drake is a born and raised Milwaukeean who grew up in the Graceland neighborhood. She was accepted into the Educational Opportunities Program at Marquette University and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Social Welfare and Justice in 2015. Dora, herself, was a first generation student who now focuses on tangible policies and strives to create results people can see in their daily lives. By focusing on literacy and opportunities for our youth, fostering economic stability for families, building criminal justice initiatives, and creating a space for vital re-entry services, she paves the way for a brighter and more equitable future for her constituents.
Shortly after graduating, Dora was employed by JusticePoint, a nonprofit organization promoting reforms to the criminal justice system and supporting people through their interactions with the justice system. Shortly after, Dora worked as a Pretrial Case Manager at JusticePoint for two years and provide the courts documentation while providing resources to clientele such as housing, AODA treatment, and employment. She, with the help of colleagues and YWCA of Southeast WI, also implemented a racial-bias training for JusticePoint’s employees statewide. Dora also facilitated trauma-informed response training sessions for criminal justice professionals.
Dora is proud to represent the 11th District, which is located on the north side of Milwaukee and includes parts of Glendale, WI. She enjoys connecting with her constituents to listen to any concerns for themselves and their community, as well as be there to support their aspirations. Her commitment extends beyond just being a representative for the 11th District as she actively collaborates with community leaders at the local and state level to implement tangible solutions that her community and see and feel. Dora is dedicated to serving the community uniting everyone in the hope to rebuild and strengthen communities for the future.
