Steineke Votes for Middle Class Tax Cuts
MADISON – Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) voted in favor of Assembly Bill 4 this evening to cut taxes on middle-class Wisconsinites. Assembly Republicans introduced the bill last month as a bipartisan effort to achieve a campaign promise of Governor Evers without raising taxes. Rep. Steineke released the following statement after the passage of AB 4:
“Being able to provide tax relief for our hard-working middle class families is a principle I campaigned on and believe in. I’m excited to say that our responsible budgeting over the last eight years has grown a surplus that can fund these tax cuts, without having to raise taxes on our farmers, small businesses, and job creators.
“From the beginning, I’ve said that I want to find ways to work together with the new administration. Our Middle Class Tax Cut bill is a good faith bipartisan effort, where both sides compromise to find a solution. I hope Governor Evers sees the value of this compromise so we can do right by Wisconsin families “
