Steineke Statement on Veto Overrides for Mental Health
MADISON – As Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) set this week’s session calendar, he announced that the Assembly will be voting to override measures taken by Governor Evers in striking portions of the WISCONSIN Budget.
“While Governor Evers and my Democratic colleagues have said time and again that mental health initiatives are important to them, at the end of the day, critical items in the WISCONSIN Budget – items that would greatly impact our state’s ability to address and care for those with mental health concerns – were vetoed with a quick stroke of the governor’s pen.
“Our Assembly Republican caucus has been resolute in our commitment to providing access to mental health services. I am hoping that, given the opportunity this Thursday, my colleagues on the other side of the aisle will follow our lead and do the same.”
