Rep. Steineke Proud of Strong Economy, Fulfilling Promises

MADISON – Governor Walker delivered his State of the State address today in the Assembly Chambers, giving an overview of the accomplishments Wisconsin has experienced over the last year. Following the address, Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) released the following statement:

“Wisconsin’s economy is growing, there is no doubt about it. In fact, it’s historically strong. I’m proud to support the reforms we put in place, the unmatched education funding we approved, and the record low unemployment levels we achieved. Because of all this, we have a budget surplus – and who better to share that with than the hard-working families here in Wisconsin. Governor Walker’s plan today for a per-child tax credit will certainly benefit people in the 5th Assembly District.

“We also hear, time and again, that health care is a top priority for people in the Fox Valley. Because of that, the Assembly passed protections for people with preexisting conditions. Governor Walker focused much of his time on keeping health care affordable for all – especially our needy and elderly.

“It’s clear that our work in the legislature, and Governor Walker’s leadership, are making a difference for the better for families and communities throughout the state.

As we begin the new year, Assembly Republicans are committed to continuing to support our schools, our taxpayers, and our economy.”
