Republicans Approve Funding for State Highway 15 Expansion
MADISON – The legislature’s Joint Committee on Finance approved funding to advance the Hortonville bypass on State Highway 15 in an executive session last night. State Representative Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna), along with fellow northeast Wisconsin legislators, have been vocal advocates of moving this project forward.
“I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to the members of the budget committee for understanding the need and value in the State Highway 15 project for Wisconsinites,” said Rep. Steineke. “By allocating funds to keep the momentum of this project moving forward, we’re ensuring our roads are safe and supporting our growing communities and economy.”
Highway 15 saw two tragic accidents last month, a reminder of the impact the expansion project would bring to northeast Wisconsin. Working with area stakeholders and the state Department of Transportation, Steineke recently announced a number of enhanced safety measures to help alleviate traffic concerns as the project continues forward.
“This is such an important project for our communities to ensure safety for everyone on our highways,” continued Rep. Steineke. “I’m proud to see that through dedicating time and resources here in Madison, we were able to follow through with funding for the Highway 15 project.”
