Rep. Steineke Re-Elected as Assembly Majority Leader
MADISON - Assembly Republicans voted to re-elect Representative Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) as the Assembly Majority Leader for the 2019-20 legislative session. Rep. Steineke has served as the Assembly Majority Leader for the last four years, helping bring Wisconsin to the forefront of industry, workforce, education, and more.
"I am incredibly proud to be serving as Majority Leader of the State Assembly once again," said Rep. Steineke. "I look forward to working alongside my colleagues to find new ways to make our state better for our neighbors, families, and communities."
For many legislators, the coming session will be their first experience with opposition in the Governor's office. The Republican caucus voted for a Majority Leader with the experience, knowledge, and temperament needed to meet the new challenges a split government will bring.
"As we navigate the next two years, one thing is certain: our caucus will need strong, tested leadership," Rep. Steineke continued. "I am ready and willing to bring those skills to the table to compromise when needed, and stand firm when necessary."
