Leader Steineke: Reacts to Today’s Senate Vote
MADISON – Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) released the following statement following the state Senate’s passage of a COVID relief bill that falls short of the needs of Wisconsinites:
“I am incredibly disappointed that today, the state Senate passed a bill that fails to address so many of the issues we’re hearing from constituents from all over the state. The message from our neighbors and communities has been loud and clear: we must open our state while keeping our vulnerable safe.
“Instead of listening to our hard-working families, the Senate approved a bill that fails to provide protections for places of worship. It fails to allow those who want to opt out of the COVID vaccine to do so. And finally, it fails to prevent local health officers from shutting down local businesses on a whim without approval from elected officials.
“We will continue to advocate for the priorities of our constituents over the next few weeks as we move towards a response to the Senate’s actions during our next floor period later this month.”
