Assembly Proclaims October 10th as World Homeless Day
MADISON – Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) released the following statement following the Assembly approving a resolution to proclaim October 10th, 2019 as World Homeless Day:
“Over the last few years of working closely on the issue of homelessness, one of the biggest hurdles we have faced is visibility. The unfortunate truth is that homelessness affects every single community, no matter its size or location. As we have found ways to combat homelessness legislatively, the need to improve visibility remains.
“I am proud to be part of a legislative body that recognizes the importance not only of addressing the resources that affect homelessness, but also the need to shine a light on the issue. As I cast my vote in favor of recognizing today as World Homeless Day today, I will continue to work to find legislative ways we can ensure every person has a place to call home.”
