Majority Leader Steineke on the Appointment of Barca as DOR Secretary

MADISON – Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) released the following statement regarding Governor-elect Evers’ selection of Rep. Peter Barca (D-Kenosha) to lead Wisconsin’s Department of Revenue:

“Having worked closely with Peter over the last 8 years, I would like offer my congratulations on his selection to fill this important role. Working with him as he lead his caucus as minority leader, I have a great respect for Peter, his ability to find consensus on issues, and the commitment he’s shown to his constituents and our state.

“One of the things I’ve grown to appreciate the most about Peter is his willingness to put partisanship aside and do what’s best for our great state.

“Since 2011, Assembly Republicans have made great strides in improving our state’s business climate and reducing the tax burden on working families and job creators. It’s my sincere hope that moving forward, we can continue this progress and find ways to collaborate with Gov.-elect Evers and Rep. Barca to do what’s best for Wisconsin taxpayers.”
