Thank you for subscribing to my legislative e-update! This communication will outline what's happening in the Capitol and highlight my efforts while representing you and the state of Wisconsin. On occasion, I will also profile some of our great Green Bay area people and programs that make our community a better place. I hope you enjoy it!
Green Bay Correctional Institute
This session I will be reintroducing my proposal relating to the closure and replacement of GBCI. This proposal will save the taxpayers millions of dollars and more importantly address the unsafe working environment for our correctional officers and provide a real opportunity of recidivism reduction for inmates.
This week's “60 Minutes” profiled a prison program that demonstrates some of the possibilities available within my proposal. This is the culmination of four years of research, input and collaboration with facility and prison operations experts and academics from around the nation. Stay tuned for more information.

Pathways to Employment!
Update on the Pathways to Employment legislation I authored this session- the bill, AB 33, passed committees in both the Senate and the Assembly! This is a step in the right direction and I look forward to it getting on the floor in both houses.
Also, the White House recently proclaimed April 2019 as Second Chance Month to highlight the need for opportunities for people who have paid their debt to society and want to become contributing citizens. This is exactly what the Pathways to Employment bill would do, connecting employers in need with potential employees who are looking to overcome their past and find success in the workforce.
Response to Proposed Increases in Property Taxes
I have raised concerns about Governor Tony Evers’ budget proposal that calls for increasing property taxes on homes and businesses in Wisconsin. I have asked my colleagues on the Joint Committee on Finance to reject yet another tax increase proposed by the Evers' Administration.
I have worked hard to provide tax relief for so that hardworking families can keep more of their own money. Wisconsin’s economy is historically strong, and as our tax burden has decreased over the last eight years, tax revenues have actually increased. There is no reason to raise taxes on homeowners in our state.
