Call for GBCI Prisoners to make Masks for Hospitals, First Responders
On Wednesday, I submitted a formal request to Governor Evers and DOC Secretary Kevin Carr to begin having GBCI prisoners make 10,000 masks equipped with HEPA filtration systems (not homemade cloth masks) for hospitals and first responders. The inmates at GBCI have the skills and equipment to easily transition from clothing to life saving, CDC-recommended crisis supply strategy. As this mask design and material is doctor/CDC approved as a last resort for our health care professionals, first responders and nursing homes during this period of extreme mask shortage, I'm hoping you (and Governor Evers) will work with me to get these masks into our communities next week. Let me know your thoughts.
In conjunction with my request of the Governor, you can now go to https://covid19supplies.wi.gov/Donations to either donate or sell large quantities of personal protective equipment (PPE) to the State of Wisconsin. The State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) will then work to distribute the PPE to communities that need it the most.
