Thank you for subscribing to my legislative e-update! This communication will outline what's happening in the Capitol and highlight my efforts while representing you and the state of Wisconsin. On occasion, I will also profile some of our great Green Bay area people and programs that make our community a better place. I hope you enjoy it!
Rep. Steffen meets with Governor Evers
This week, I had the opportunity for a one-on-one meeting with Governor Tony Evers to discuss important policy and state budget matters, including my updated proposal to decommission Green Bay Correctional Institution (GBCI) and relocate the operations to a replacement facility elsewhere in the area. We had a very positive, productive conversation regarding the challenges and opportunities facing our state prison system, including those involving GBCI. Every week, I feel more and more confident that a holistic, bi-partisan, cost-effective solution will be enacted this legislative session. I promise to keep you posted as this issue develops, so please watch for updates in future newsletters.
Budget Listening Session
I will be holding in-district listening sessions in the coming weeks to get input from you on the budget. What do you like? What don’t you like? Was there something that Governor Evers missed that you would like me to address? I invite you to come and provide me your thoughts and priorities for Wisconsin’s two-year budget.
My first budget listening session is scheduled for Monday March 18th.
What: Budget Listening Session
When: Monday, March 18th from 12:00 – 1:00 P.M.

2155 Holmgren Way, Ashwaubenon, WI 54304

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Did you know that March is Irish – American Heritage Month? In the United States 1 out of 10 (or 31 million) people claimed Irish ancestry. The heritage month is in March to coincide with Saint Patrick's Day. Originally the holiday was to honor St. Patrick, who introduced Christianity to Ireland in the 5th Century later evolving into a celebration of all things Irish.
