Thank you for subscribing to my legislative e-update! This communication will outline what's happening in the Capitol and highlight my efforts while representing you and the state of Wisconsin. On occasion, I will also profile some of our great Green Bay area people and programs that make our community a better place. I hope you enjoy it!
Green Bay Correctional Institution
This week, I renewed my call for action to replace the Green Bay Correctional Institution, in spite of recent statements by Governor Evers. A prison facilities report draft released this week shows that GBCI is, without question, in need of replacement. My prison replacement proposal will save the taxpayers over $150 million and provide a safer environment for the workers and inmates. It is irresponsible to spend $217 million to repair a 121-year old prison that is undersized, poorly designed and ill-equipped to handle the prisoners housed there. This report is the second independent study commissioned by the state government that indicates this public policy imperative.

Also this week, I joined my Republican colleagues in introducing the new "A Hand for the Homeless" initiative, comprised of eight bills aimed at curbing homelessness in Wisconsin. I am assisting with each of these bills to ensure this new funding and programming becomes available for our statewide homelessness initiatives.
Criminal Justice Reform
Assembly Republicans stood with judges, prosecutors, public defenders and law enforcement to press for criminal justice reform that is tough, but smart on crime so our communities stay safe. The bills deal with issues from access to a fair trial to the re-entry of ex-offenders into the workforce.
