Blue Books are In!

The 2017-18 Wisconsin Blue Books are now available! The Blue Book is a publication put together each biennium by the Legislative Reference Bureau. It is an incredible resource full of the most up-to-date information on Wisconsin's government, history, demographics etc. I'd encourage anyone who is interested in gaining a better understanding of how our state government works to take some time to check out this publication. Blue Books are absolutely free and I'd be happy to send you one! Just send me an email at Rep.Steffen@legis.wisconsin.gov or call my office at 608-266-5840 and request a free copy!

Small Business Agenda

This week I had the opportunity to join Governor Walker at the Greater Green Bay Chamber, as he stopped by to discuss Wisconsin's small businesses, and how our state is working to support and grow these businesses. As someone who knows that small businesses are a key component to employment throughout our state, I am very proud of the focus this agenda places on reducing costs to our small businesses, preparing our workforce, bringing talented new employees to our state, and removing barriers to employment. As a small business owner myself, I truly understand the challenges of being a small business owner and am proud to be working on measures to encourage small business growth in Wisconsin.

Congratulations Village of Howard Water Utility!

Congratulations to the Village of Howard and its Water Utility Department on recently being awarded the 2017 Annual Water Efficiency Award for the state of Wisconsin, by the American Water Works Association. This is a major recognition, as only one award is given statewide each year! The Village of Howard stood out by demonstrating success in a number of areas including: reducing non-water revenue, using Comparative Audit Data for benchmarking with other public utilities, advocating and providing other Wisconsin Public Utility staff members with water loss training, and accurately using the American Water Works Association audit software. Congratulations to the Village and all Water Utility staff--thanks for making our community proud!

Side-Notes!

Fall is HERE!

Attention all outdoor and fall loving enthusiasts! There are more than 20 fall festivals and events scheduled at properties throughout the Wisconsin State Park System. You can find the full list here! I hope you'll get out there and enjoy our beautiful Wisconsin fall weather.

In addition, September 30th is National Public Lands Day. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has put together a list of online tools to help you find a cool new spot to enjoy the Wisconsin outdoors.

Attention Hunters!

The changes in deer and turkey tagging that were included in 2017 Act 59 are now in effect. This means that deer and turkey carcass tags are no longer required to be issued with a license, therefore the attachment of a carcass tag is no longer required. You are still required to register your turkey or deer. For more information, click here.
