11 New Bills Combating
Opioid Abuse Signed Into Law!
 
This week I joined Governor Walker and fellow
colleagues in Northeast Wisconsin in signing a
package of bills that are part of the Heroin,
Opiate, Prevention and Education (H.O.P.E.)
Agenda. These bills
are designed to help fight Wisconsin's opioid
epidemic and were passed with bipartisan
support in both the Assembly and Senate. This
package of bills adds to the H.O.P.E.
legislation passed in previous sessions and aims
to assist addicts receive the help they need. In
addition, this legislation
puts more responsibilities on schools to educate
kids on these issues. Addressing opioid
addiction has been a team effort between the
state, schools, hospitals and the communities. A few of
the measures included the 11 bills passed include:
expanding the "Good Samaritan Law," allowing
trained professionals to administer Narcan,
grant funding for treatment, funding towards new abuse facilities throughout the state,
educational programs, training programs, and
various counseling programs. I am proud to have
supported each of these bills, which are an
important step in continuing to combat
devastating epidemic.
Lodge Kohler Grand Opening
This week I had the opportunity to attend the
Lodge Kohler Grand Opening. What an amazing
facility and exciting step forward in the
Titletown District Development. The economic
development and additional jobs that have been
created as a result of this development are
certainly great news for Green Bay. The
beautiful view of Lambeau Field at Lodge Kohler
is certainly something Packer fans from near and
far can appreciate!
