20% of Wisconsin's Prison
Assaults Happen at GBCI
Click the picture above to watch my interview
regarding the recent report highlighting the
number of assaults to staff at GBCI. In the past few years
there have been a rising number of assaults on
correctional officers. This report reveals that
staff at GBCI are among the most assaulted by
inmates in the entire state. The need for a
modernized facility with proper design and
safety features is critical. I am continuing to
work on my proposal to decommission GBCI and
build a new facility which will address the
overwhelming capacity, cost, and safety concerns
that plague this 119-year-old facility.
Thank YOU!

Last week the Assembly Ways and Means Committee
held a public hearing on
AB 386 and
AB 387, commonly referred to as the
Dark Store legislation, which was authored
by my colleague Rep. Rob Brooks. The bases of
both bills is to make sure that every business is
paying their fair share in taxes, and to ensure
that
small businesses are not disproportionately
overburdened by taxes. AB 386 and 387 focus on three approaches for
property assessments based on sales comparison,
income, and cost approach. This is truly a
matter of ensuring taxation fairness and I am
proud to have co-sponsored each of these bills.
A big thank you to our local leaders from the
Village of Howard for taking the time to come
down to Madison and testify in favor of these
bills! |
