Addressing Homelessness

This week I had the privilege to sit down and talk to members of the homeless community at St. John's Evangelist Homeless shelter. I was able to hear first-hand the struggles the homeless go through on a daily basis. While the Assembly recently passed a package of bills aimed to combat homelessness, there is far more to be done. Wisconsin must continue implementing policies to combat homelessness, and meeting with constituents one on one to hear their thoughts and learn of their needs is an important step. For more more information on this important issue, check out the coverage on Fox 11 here.

Congratulations Eagle Scouts!

Congratulations, Eagle Scouts! I am so proud of these young men for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. I was honored to attend their court of honor recently and share in recognizing each of them on this incredible accomplishment. A big thanks to all scouts for being such outstanding members of our community!

Assembly K-12 Education Budget Proposal

The Assembly GOP released its education budget proposal, which would allow more money to go straight to the class room, while also having a lower overall cost than Governor Walker's proposed education budget. This proposal recognizes low spending schools by providing additional aid while keeping the commitment to lower property taxes. The Joint Finance Committee is continuing to review and craft the biennial budget, which will then come before the full Legislature for a vote.

Assembly Bill 381: Voluntary payments associated with special distinguishing registration plates supporting  the family members of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.

Joint Resolution 58: Recognizing July 16, 2017, as National Atomic Veterans Day in Wisconsin.

Green Bay Training Center

On Wednesday June 7, 2017  Wisconsin Public Service and We Energies broke ground on a new, 32,000-square-foot training center next to the Green Bay Service Center. This new facility will bring more opportunities to employees by helping them get the training and continued training they need. This facility should hold roughly 250 employees each year.
