Rep. Tusler Statement on the Governor’s Veto of the

Middle Class Tax Cut

Madison, WI –Representative Ron Tusler (R-Harrison) released the following statement in reaction to Governor Evers’ veto of 2017 AB 4, the middle class tax cut:

“I am disappointed that Governor Evers vetoed a tax cut for hardworking middle class Wisconsinites.  Governor Evers repeatedly said during his campaign that he wanted to cut taxes for the middle class.  The legislation presented to him did exactly what he wanted to accomplish, yet he still could not reach across the aisle and work for the benefit of millions of Wisconsinites.

“I urge Governor Evers to include this legislation as passed in his upcoming budget proposal.  Assembly Bill 4 was fully funded, unlike the Governor’s proposal, and affects a greater number of Wisconsinites as well.  Wisconsin’s surplus is the taxpayer’s surplus.  It’s your money, not a government slush fund.  The Governor is embracing hyper-partisan liberalism and will raise taxes on farmers and manufacturers which will jeopardize middle class jobs and the state’s strong economy.”
