This week, students from across Wisconsin began a new school year! I would like to wish the best to all students, especially those in the Appleton, Brillion, Kimberly, Kaukauna, Little Chute, and Stockbridge Area School Districts.
I am especially proud that we are setting our students up for success due to the following investments in education in the recently passed budget:
Increased funding by $604 per student over two years
Increased special education funding by 22%
Doubled funding for student mental health programs, giving students access to professional assistance
Rep. Tusler Visits FVTC
With students returning to school this week, I also had the opportunity to learn at Fox Valley Technical College's health simulation training labs.
The first lab I toured was of their state-of-the-art birthing simulator. Students get to experience firsthand what to do in real life scenarios without repercussions to human life.
Fox Valley Technical College also offers several human patient simulation labs. These portable simulators can be programmed to perform complex scenarios and respond physiologically to the interventions - or lack thereof - applied in real or accelerated time.
Finally, I toured the classroom for forensic anthropologists. I was amazed at the details projected of a real human body and how they were able to peel back layers of the body, without actually having to touch a body.
Thank you to Fox Valley Technical College for showing me around. Keep up the great work of educating our future healthcare professionals! Check out the video below to see the highlights from my visit.
High School Fall Sports
High School Sports are in full swing! Make sure to support your local high school sports teams as they compete against other area teams.
One of the goals of high school athletics is learning lifetime values. Sportsmanship is one such value that makes these games an educational experience. Please remember to exhibit a positive and respectful behavior towards all when attending any high school sporting event.

Back to school means heavier traffic in the morning and late afternoon, especially around schools. Please be safe by watching out for pedestrians and following these simple rules when a school bus picks up or drops off students. For more information, please click here or on the image below.
