Ron's Recap: November 1, 2019

JSI Logo.jpg

Yesterday, AB 501/SB 468, establishing public defender pay progression, had a hearing in the Joint Finance Committee! This bill will help attract and retain talented attorneys for the Wisconsin State Public Defender. This and the other Justice Support Initiative bills I authored are needed steps to support the justice system in Wisconsin. AB 501/SB 458 would create 12 new circuit court branches.  I am hopeful, if signed into law, Calumet County will get a second branch! Find more information about these and all the JSI bills by clicking here.

 National First Responder Day

Monday was National First Responder Day, and I want to recognize Appleton Firefighter Mitchell Lundgaard. Firefighter Lundgaard sacrificed his life and cherished moments with his family and friends to make Appleton, Wisconsin a better place. No amount of thanks or gratitude is sufficient. We owe his family one-hundred percent of our love and appreciation. Thank you to all first responders for your daily sacrifices and for those who have paid the ultimate price.

Last month, I presented the family of fallen Appleton Firefighter Mitchell Lundgaard with the First Responder of the Year award for the 3rd Assembly District.

Daylight Saving Time This Weekend

Don’t forget to “fall back” one hour early Sunday morning, as daylight saving time ends. As you reset your clocks and have some extra time, take a moment to test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and check the supplies in your emergency kits. These simple actions could help save your life and that of your family!
