I will be holding a budget listening session with Wisconsin State Representative Paul Tittl and Senator Devin LeMahieu at the Hilbert Community Center beginning at 11:00am on Monday, March 29th. I look forward to hearing from the residents of Calumet County about their concerns and what they would like to see in the 2021-2023 budget.
Mayor Genrich Turns Down Invitation to Testify
I am disappointed that Green Bay Mayor, Eric Genrich, has turned down offers to testify before the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections during an upcoming committee hearing next week Wednesday, despite asking for an invitation.
Mayor Genrich looks weak and ineffective to the committee that wishes to ask him a few questions in Madison. Perhaps, this committee will find out more than Genrich hopes they will next week.
This week, I proudly voted in favor of the Truth in Spending Act, Senate Bill 183.
Under current law the governor is authorized to receive and direct the expenditure of all federal funds received by the state. This bill increases the legislature's role in approving the expenditure of federal funds that are received by the state between the effective date of this bill and June 30, 2022, that relate to COVID-19 activities.
Billions of taxpayer dollars should not be in the hands of a single person. This bill simply asks the governor to include others in the decision-making process. Not only will this legislation allow for public input, it will also provide transparency.
I look forward to having a transparent approach to the pandemic recovery and working with the governor on what’s best for Wisconsin.
