Ron's Recap: March 20, 2020

In this week’s e-update, I would like to pass along facts and important information about COVID-19 and what you can do to help yourself, your family, and your community. Together, we can slow the spread of the pandemic and save lives and businesses. COVID-19 is dangerous because it has been shown to be asymptomatic. In other words, you can spread it even if you have no symptoms. Social distancing is an important tool that will slow the spread of COVID-19.  Slowing will help our health care system resources keep up with the new need. Please limit stockpiling, as grocery stores will remain open and stocked. Finally, please continue to wash your hands regularly. These are trying times, but as we have in the past, we will weather this storm.

Unemployment Information

The majority of people applying for unemployment benefits can complete their claim online. Receiving unemployment benefits is a two-step process:

Apply online - The week you become unemployed, file your application online and do not wait to file. For more information, instructional videos, and to apply, please visit https://dwd.wisconsin.gov/uiben/apply/.

File your weekly claim - After you have applied online, you will need to file a claim certification each week. This will require you to answer a series of questions. You must continue to file a weekly claim certification for each week you would like to receive benefits.
