Ron's Recap: January 24, 2020

2020 State of the State.png

This week, Governor Evers delivered his second State of the State Address. He said some things I agreed with and other things I didn’t. Watch my video to hear my reaction to the Governor’s address. I am proud to say 100% of the bills I’ve had signed into law are bipartisan and I look forward to continuing to work across the aisle!

Funding for Children's Mental Health in Outagamie County

According to the State Office of Children’s Mental Health, 21% of Wisconsin students have a mental illness. That’s way too many! Outagamie County Assembly Republicans and I are leading on the issue. Assembly Bill 644 creates a pilot program in Outagamie County to train teachers on how to identify mental illness, guide students to appropriate treatment, and accommodate them in the classroom.

Watch my video here or by clicking the image below to hear more about what the legislature is doing to address mental health issues in Outagamie County and Wisconsin.

Great Economic Health

Wisconsin's Legislative Fiscal Bureau is predicting an even larger surplus than previously expected! Careful budgeting and an attractive business economy in Wisconsin have lead to long term success, thanks to legislative Republicans.

In addition, Wisconsin's pension system continues to be one of the best in the nation! The primary investment fund for most Wisconsin public employees and retirees grew nearly 20% last year. Good governance and a strong economy pay off!

Welcome to the Capitol!

I enjoyed speaking with constituents from the 3rd Assembly District who are members of the Wisconsin Credit Union League and the Dairy Business Association during their visit to the capitol. Thank you for all you do to educate youth about financial literacy and our state's dairy industry!

Protect Life Day

This week, I proudly voted in favor of a Joint Resolution that makes January 22nd Protect Life Day in Wisconsin. This date was chosen because it's the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. It's my hope that Protect Life Day can help start an honest and meaningful conversation about protecting all life in Wisconsin, including those who haven't been born yet.

I am proud to protect life today, and every day. #Prolife!
