Ron's Recap: February 21, 2020

This week, the State Senate voted to approve Assembly Bill 470, creating 12 new circuit court judges around the state! The bill will have a major impact on our justice system!
Calumet County is well-suited for the creation of a second branch and I am hopeful one will be allocated here in the Third Assembly District. Regardless of which counties receive additional judges, the infusion of these positions will have a positive statewide impact.
The bill will be presented to the Governor later this spring for his approval or veto.

Promoting the Dairy Industry in Little Chute

This week my bill, Assembly Bill 821, passed unanimously in the Assembly. I am proud to say this bill will both bolster Wisconsin’s dairy industry and have a direct, positive impact on Fox Valley businesses and workers.
This bill paves the way for an expansion of Simon's Specialty Cheese in Little Chute. Currently, the majority of the milk used at the Little Chute facility is sourced from within a 40-mile radius of the plant, which is good news for dairy farmers in the 3rd Assembly District and greater Fox Valley! The expansion is expected to have a $40 million impact on the Little Chute area and other Wisconsin farmers, a $1.5 million impact on local businesses involved in facility business operations, and create 40 new full-time positions.

The bill now awaits a vote in the Senate.

Brillion High School Visits the Capitol

On Wednesday, students from Brillion High School visited the Wisconsin State Capitol. I love sharing my experience as a legislator with so many young individuals! I encourage all of my constituents to stop by the state capitol to learn about its history as well as the importance of the legislative process.

 GOP Tax Cut

Because of the good governance in Wisconsin the past decade, Wisconsin has a significant surplus! It is only right that the surplus be used to pay down the state's debt, add to the rainy day fund, and be returned to you: the hard working taxpayers of Wisconsin. Under the new tax cut proposal by Assembly Republicans, Wisconsin middle class families would see an average savings of $105!
