The LRB compiles, revises, and publishes the Wisconsin Statutes and Annotations. The printed version of the Wisconsin Statutes and Annotations is an accurate representation of Wisconsin law, as affected by all legislation enacted in the prior legislative session. Legislation enacted in the prior legislative session is compiled in the Laws of Wisconsin. The LRB electronically updates and publishes the Wisconsin Statutes and Annotations on the legislature’s website on an ongoing basis to provide an accurate and current representation of the Wisconsin statutes. The electronic Wisconsin Statutes and Annotations are official, certified representations of the Wisconsin statutes.

The LRB includes in the Wisconsin Statutes and Annotations annotations and notes, prepared by LRB attorneys. These annotations contain authoritative notes of the legislative history of sections of the statutes, annotations of court decisions interpreting the statutes and the constitution, as well as other matters affecting the statutes that are considered important by LRB attorneys.

The LRB prepares correction and revisions bills for the purposes of better organizing the statutes, and making technical corrections in statutory law. LRB attorneys work with the Law Revision Committee to prepare legislation to eliminate defects, anachronisms, conflicts, ambiguities, and unconstitutional or obsolete provisions in the statutes. The LRB also submits a biennial report to the Law Revision Committee that identifies the reported opinions of the attorney general and the reported decisions of federal district courts, or any state or federal appellate court, in which the Wisconsin statutes or session laws are stated to be in conflict, ambiguous, anachronistic, unconstitutional, or otherwise in need of revision.
