Assembly Committee on Ways and Means Ends
Miller Park Tax

Madison…Today, the Assembly Committee on Ways and Means voted to end the Miller Park Stadium tax.  All the committee members who were present voted in favor of Assembly Bill 73, which ends the special tax on March 31, 2020.

The Legislative Fiscal Bureau has estimated that the Special Stadium Sales and Use Tax has cost taxpayers an additional $31 million in 2019 alone.  Chairman John Macco (R-Ledgeview) released the following statement:

“Wisconsinites have been paying an additional tax for 22 years to support the construction of Miller Park. Miller Park is a world class facility and home to the famous Milwaukee Brewers. Now that the construction debt has been paid off and appropriate reserve funds are in place, this tax has served its purpose. It is time to sunset this tax for the residents of Wisconsin.”
