The Joint Legislative Audit Committee was created by Chapter
224, Laws of Wisconsin 1975. Its membership consists of the
co-chairpersons of the Joint Committee on Finance, two other majority
and two minority party senators, and two other majority and two
minority party representatives.
The Committee has advisory responsibilities
for the Audit Bureau. The Committee may direct the Audit Bureau to
conduct audits and evaluations, receives and reviews reports issued
by the Bureau, may conduct hearings on Audit Bureau reports, and may
introduce legislation pertaining to Audit Bureau recommendations.
