Wisconsin Jobs Now

CREATING AND RETAINING JOBS

The WISCONSIN JOBS NOW Task Force was created to develop legislative initiatives that will have a positive impact on Wisconsin jobs.  The Task Force will provide a forum for employers across Wisconsin to share their thoughts on the condition of Wisconsin’s business climate and suggest changes to strengthen it. These suggestions will be developed into a report of legislative recommendations to grow jobs and stimulate our economy that will be submitted to the Legislature.

The Wisconsin budget adjustment bill, Senate Bill 62, was passed and signed into law in a span of 48 hours, leaving no time for public hearings or input. The bill implemented substantial revisions to the state’s business tax structure with the enactment of combined reporting, streamlined sales tax and a sales tax on business software.

Other significant business proposals under consideration in the Legislature include a minimum wage increase and changes in the wage lien law. Employers are encouraged to discuss these legislative initiatives along with other factors that impact their business growth, such as state business regulations and the permitting process.

The Task Force website will allow job-providers to detail how the new state laws and legislative proposals impact them. Employers’ suggestions in the roundtable discussions and their submitted testimony will be included in the final report.

The third Wisconsin Jobs NOW Task Force roundtable discussion in Eau Claire continued a productive dialogue between legislators and job creators on ways to rebuild Wisconsin’s economy and create jobs.
