Local school districts honored with Wisconsin School of Recognition awards
MADISON – Senator Jennifer Shilling (D-La Crosse) joined dozens of state and local officials today at an award ceremony in the State Capitol where several local schools were honored by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as 2011-12 Wisconsin School of Recognition award recipients. After the ceremony, Sen. Shilling released the following statement:
“Our local schools provide an outstanding educational foundation for our children and are a driving force behind our region’s economic success. Western Wisconsin is fortunate to have such dedicated teachers, administrators, and staff that consistently demonstrate their commitment to providing quality educational opportunities.”
“I am proud of the accomplishments and progress that our local schools have made to educate children despite significant economic and financial challenges. I want to congratulate all of our students, teachers and staff for their hard work and wish them many more years of educational success.”
This year, 116 schools were named 2011-12 Wisconsin School of Recognition award recipients. Several schools in western and southwestern Wisconsin were among the recipients including: Boscobel Junior High School (Boscobel Area), Prairie View Elementary (De Soto Area), School of Technology & Arts II (La Crosse), La Farge Elementary School (La Farge), La Farge Middle School (La Farge), North Crawford Elementary School (North Crawford, Soldiers Grove), Richland Middle School (Richland Center), Riverdale Elementary School (Riverdale, Muscoda), Seneca Elementary School (Seneca), and Lawrence-Lawson Elementary School (Sparta Area).
