Food Assistance
Food assistance is available to flood victims through the state’s FoodShare Program. Residents in affected areas must sign up from September 10 to 18. Mobile Disaster Recovery Center
FEMA will have its Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) mobile unit at the Iowa County Courthouse in Dodgeville on Sunday, September 16 from noon to 7 p.m. and Monday, September 17 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Representatives from Federal and State agencies will be present to answer questions about potential grants or loans to assist in the recovery.
The purpose of the on site ‘disaster recovery center’ will be the opportunity for anyone who desires to speak directly with an agency representative to come in and do so. Other agencies such as SBA are expected to be present.
If properties have been affected by the flood damage owners should call 1-800-621-3362 or apply online at www.fema.gov to report the damage and provide information.

Unemployment Assistance for Flood Victims
Did you or someone you know miss work because of flooding? The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development can provide assistance. Due to flooding some workers were off the job because of hazardous travel or damaged businesses.
Workers must apply for benefits by September 26, 2007. Applications can be filed by calling the Unemployment Insurance Division toll-free at 1-800-822-5246. A special (TTY) number for the hearing impaired is also available at 1-888-393-8914.
